Is there a glitch in the turbo tax software for the NY state tax return - particularly the Additions - Code A-101? It won't let me finalize the the e-filing.

won't allow zero, despite nothing on W-2

If your W-2 Box 14 is empty and you did not participate in the New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125, to clear this error, remove the 0's and leave empty. Then click continue. (Make sure you remove both 0's)

See image below for reference. This should clear the error

I am also having this error. I remove the right side but it will not allow me to remove the left side. The UI seems to be stuck in a loop.

How do you remove the grayed out section for A-101, left side?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Hi @BrittanyS ,

I have the same issue as above where it says
Other Additions/Subtractions Stmt 225 Additions  Code a 101 must be entered.

Token: 13915419320209119-99984777"

Thanks

There is a $0 showing on the NY Additions/Subtraction form.  Follow these steps to remove the 0 and the error should clear:

  1. Open TurboTax
  2. Click Forms in the upper right corner
  3. Scroll down to NY return and select Add/Sub (225)
  4. Delete 0 on line "NY allocated amount of above (see screenshot)

I am also having same problem, using online version (no forms to access on upper right). Very frustrating!! One cannot remove the greyed out area where a "0" is embedded (and for what reason - who knows?)

@BrittanyS I'm also having this issue and am stuck in this loop of not being able to submit my return. I've just sent to agent and token is 1289214. Hope this can be addressed soon! Thanks!

Hi @BrittanyS

Do you have a workaround for the Online Version? I saw someone else ask, but did not see a reply.

Is the online version much more limited than the desktop version? I would assumed they offer the same capabilities.

To delete, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
  3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.

I have the same error/issue and removing the zeroes has not fixed the problem no matter which way I try.

Also review your Box 14 entries on any W-2s - check the category and use Other Not Classified for anything that is not an exact match.
