Is there a formula to calculate the CA license fee? I only have a receipt from DMV for the total paid.

I only have total Paid to DMV and the receipt.  Since it was paid online, the receipt does not break down the Fees. I do not know what the tax deductible License Fee is. There used to be a formula to determine this fee.

You can go to the DMV website and enter Vehicle License Number (key your license number) and Vehicle Identification Number (key last 5 positions) and you will get the license fee - https://www.dmv.ca.gov/wasapp/FeeCalculatorWeb/vlfForm.do
