Is the tax due at the top of the screen from doing the itemized form or is it what the government decided I should get back with a "larger standard deduction"

The program chooses the deduction method that lowers your federal tax the most (standard vs. itemized).  You can see which method was used or compare what happens if you override the program's selection.
