Is the actual e-filing process for Fed and State taxes totally free with TurboTax free edition?

If you complete your 2023 tax return using the TurboTax Free online edition, there are no TurboTax account fees to pay.  There are no e-file fees for either a federal return or a state return when using the TurboTax online editions.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Just to be 100% sure I understand the intuit TurboTax free edition rules, TurboTax will e-file submit my Federal and State taxes to the IRS with no fee charged to me.

Do I understand this correctly?

Thanks

Yes.  You can go to the very end and submit your returns.   But if you need to enter something that Free Edition doesn't cover you will have to upgrade to a paid version.

In the Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now.  Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition?

Or go to the IRS Free File programs
