Last year (for the 2021 tax return), import of Coinbase transaction CSV files was supported only on the TB online. I was using a TB desktop edition and I just gave up reporting it. This was legal, I'm guessing, because I only had a loss.
Now I found this article https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/cryptocurrency/download-csv-file-coinbase/L3CMLz4qG_US_en_US from TB that says the Coinbase CSV import is now supported, but it is not clear if it is supported on desktop editions, or just online, like last year. Does anyone know?
What is "TB"? TurboTax? Last year there was a work around to import it to the Desktop program. No, you had to report it even if you had a loss. That help article doesn't say if it is for both Online and Desktop or just Online. Give it a try. If it doesn't import to the Desktop program post back, there is another way.
TurboTax says:
You can now import your cryptocurrency transactions directly from Coinbase into TurboTax.
if you can import directly, why would you want to use a csv file from Coinbase?
This coinbase account belongs to a family member who passed away in 2022 and I am going to take care of filing his last return. I don't think the coinbase will let me login to his account, which might have already been closed. I am hoping they can give me the CSV file at least, rather than pages of printed statement.
