Is anyone having trouble with the online version to file 2023 taxes ?

I use the online version of turbo tax.  I got an extension to file my 2023 taxes.  Now the on line version tells me I must use the desktop version.  Is it possible to still use the on line version?

If you have not yet started working on a 2023 return using online, you are too late to start using online.  You will need to use the CD/download software on a full PC or Mac, and your return will have to be filed by mail.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

This is making me crazy. An email from TT that says the online version is available till Oct 31 at midnight and then when you go to the website only the desktop is available (and you have to pay again).  I already did most of my return to file an extension. I would like to benefit from that.  This seems like a deliberate scam by Turbo Tax or a big mess-up on their part.

You cannot start a NEW online return now.   IF you had one that you started on before October 15, then you should be able to access it by using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you started on it.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

I used the click through provided in the email.  And it was able to show me everything I'd filed in the past except my 2023 extension.

yeah, I tried your solution.  I didn't get an email listing all my accounts.  I got back where I started.  I don't want to download the software I just paid $80 for.  There is insufficient space on my laptop, so now I have yet another task before I can complete my taxes, wipe out old files galore.
