Hello,
For the life of me, I can't find the answer to this question: Is 1099-R Box 7 Code W Taxable for Pennsylvania?
Box 1 has an amount.
Boxes 2a = $0.00.
Boxes 2b, and 3 are blank.
I have a life insurance contract which also has a long-term care insurance component.
It's not taxable for federal purposes, but Pennsylvania is addicted to taxing just about everything.
Thank you,
John
According to PA on page 32 of of this reference, the code W amount is taxable to PA, but only to the extent it is included in federal taxable income. After entering the form 1099R in the federal interview and completing the follow on questions to determine if any of the distribution is federally taxable, the correct amount will flow to the PA state interview. You will see a page with the retirement items listed with PA amounts shown in the PA state interview as you click through.
