IRS will not accept my social security number in the Where is my payment page. Why wont the IRS accept it?

How do I obtain the tax identifier number?

You tax ID number is your Social Security number.  When entering your SS number do not enter any dashes, just the 9 digit number.  If married and filing jointly also try your spouse's SS number.
