Good morning,

I, Jim *******, received an IRS letter form 14611 on 11/14/2022.

RAIVS/IVES Additional Actions Needed.

The letter says:

We're contacting you to report the status of your information request.  We cannot process your Form 4506-T information request for the following products and tax year(s): 2020, 2021

The letter is requesting:

For transcript requests submitted on Form 4506-C, Form 4506-T, or Form 4506-EZ:

Contact the identify theft toll-free number at [phone number removed].

Janet and I both called this number several times and no one answers.

We bought a new home and closed on the loan on 10-31-2022.  Our new address is:

[Removed Address]

We don't understand why we're receiving this letter.  We didn't file a 4506-T form.  Would our Lender request this form? Can someone help us?

Sincerely,

Jim D. *******

Janet K. *******

Our last filing was on 2/12/2022 on form 1040-SR

TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS after you file your tax return so no one here knows about a letter the IRS sent to you.  If you suspect that your lender requested a transcript of your tax returns--ASK the lender.

If you think someone might be trying to commit identity theft:

Most important) Follow the IRS procedures for reporting a fraudulent return, documented here: www.irs.gov/uac/Taxpayer-Guide-to-Identity-Theft

If your Social Security number is compromised and you know or suspect you are a victim of tax-related identity theft, take these additional steps:

  • Respond immediately to any IRS notice; call the number provided.
  • Complete IRS Form 14039, Identity Theft Affidavit. Then print and mail or fax according to the instructions.
  • Continue to pay your taxes and file your tax return, even if you must do so by paper.

Yes ... your mortgage company/lender can request copies of your tax returns to approve the mortgage.  They or your real estate agent may have had you sign a request ... look in your paperwork for a copy.
