Inform about Payment Info with tax return - Possible future COVID Payments

I have prepared my tax return, almost ready to file (waiting on finalization of form 2555-T by the IRS/TurboTax).

Due to my foreign income exclusion the outcome of my US tax return is a nice ZERO.

However I would like to inform the IRS about my payment info in case there will be more COVID Relief payments. So far I have always received paper checks through mail. To check these I have quite a few fees to pay (currency exchange/bank fees etc.).

  • I live in Germany
  • own German bank accounts only
  • own credit cards, issued in Germany

Is it possible for me to provide (foreign) payment info? Turbo Tax Free E-File doesn't give me that option, because my outcome is ZERO.

Thanks for your help.

Just like tax refunds a stimulus payment can only be direct deposited into a US bank account in a bank located in the US.

On a federal tax return if you do not have a tax refund or taxes owed there is no option to enter a bank routing and account number.
