Income exempted by US Tax Treaties

My California state return is automatically populating $2400 in Income Exempted by US Tax Treaties. However, I have no international income. I can't edit or delete this category.

Two questions:

1) Does UNUM count as exempted income by US tax treaties?

2) How can I delete this category when it is auto populating?

By any chance, do you have HSA contributions on your federal return? That would match another situation we are investigating.

Yes, I do. And the amount matches what is coming through as Income Exempted by US Tax Treaties.

Please do me a favor and send me a "sanitized" version of your tax return. A sanitized version means that TurboTax has deleted all your personally identifiable information, so we don't have a clue as to who you are ;-). The token points to where this sanitized copy of your tax data exists in our data base.

To get a token, please see the following:

Online

  • Log into your TurboTax Online tax return
  • On the left, click on Tax Tools
  • Under Tax Tools, click on Tools
  • In Tools Center, click on Share my File with Agent
  • TurboTax will give you a “token”, a 7-digit number
  • Post the token number in this thread
  • Be sure to add to that post “@” “billm223” (without the space in between) so that I will be notified

Desktop

  • Open your return in the desktop product
  • Look along the top and click on Online
  • Click on Send Tax File to Agent
  • TurboTax will give you a “token”, a 7-digit number
  • Post the token number in this thread
  • Be sure to add to that post “@” “billm223” (without the space in between) so that I will be notified

When I logged in and refreshed my turbotax today, it removed that category of income exempted by US tax treaties.

There were a large number of updates today, so it looks like this issue was fixed. All's well that ends well, as someone once said.
