Inability to use my credit card to pay for state efile fee using 2024 TurboTax Deluxe

I have used TurboTax Deluxe successfully to file my taxes for the past 20 years. Every year I have been able to use a credit card to pay for my state efile fee. This year, even though the program gives my that option, it will not allow me to use a credit card to pay for my state efile fee. I called the TurboTax Support helpline and after 30-45 minutes I was told that the capability to use a credit card was removed from 2024 TurboTax Deluxe! In fact, the only way to pay was to use part of my refund. Fine, but then I found out that it costs $40 to pay the $25 state efile fee using this method! This is ridiculous! I feel I have been duped by TurboTax this year. I will probably not use this software again if the capability to use credit cards in not reinstated for next year. I would very much like to have my $40 fee refunded. TurboTax, please contact me.

If that's what you were told, the support agent doesn't know what they're talking about.    A lot of people don't even get tax refunds and instead owe Federal tax, so there's no way those filers could pay fees out of their Federal refund (since there wouldn't even be one.)  And no fees can ever be paid out of a state refund.

People can still pay the $25 state efile fee by credit/debit card.  What is the roadblock you are hitting, and maybe someone in the forum can offer a suggestion.

baloney. I just e-filed my state return, Desktop Deluxe, and used a credit card to pay the fee. It's one of those listed below.  The problem may be that Turbotax may not accept your CC. Only Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover logo.  Not all filers are currently eligible to have their TurboTax fees deducted from their state refund.  Contact support again.

I had the same problem. The credit card answer you received was BS. The situation that I had was they wanted to take the $40 out of my refund from federal and send me the leftover. I backed up and changed to e-file federal first alone. Then there was no refund for them to take $40 from. Then i backed up again and filed the state return. Then the option to use my credit card appeared because there was no refund to steal an extra $15 from. Used my credit card to finish the transaction. Done. Screw you TurboTax!
