Sorry---there are no second extensions.

There are no second extensions.   So.....after the October 2023 deadline you will just be late.   Online tax preparation and e-filing will close after the October deadline, so if you miss it you will need to use the CD/download on a full PC or Mac, and mail your tax returns.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

To apply for a payment plan with the IRS

Apply Online for a Payment Plan

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

I understand.  Everything seems to cost more each and every day.  But IRS debt will not go away.  Best thing is to go ahead and talk with them about a Payment Plan.  They will work with you to apply and receive approval to pay your balance over time.  Take a look at the IRS article and see if this explains how you can ask for extension of time to pay via Payment Plan.  https://www.irs.gov/payments/online-payment-agreement-application.Thanks!

So file your return as soon as possible and select you will mail a check.  Then you can pay it later, either by mail or directly online at the IRS.  And the IRS might bill you for any penalties and interest.
