If one of the1099-R forms I received has multiple lines with multiple amounts in box 1 should I add these amounts together for the box 1 amount on my return?

Sum up the total in box 1 and report just the one number.

Only do this if the distribution code is the same for each amount.

Does the same line items exist in box 2a as well?
