If my W2 box 15 is blank for the ER's state ID number - because my employer doesn't have one (it's the Fed Gov't) - then why won't the system let me just leave it blank?

Is there a work-around?

If you don't have a state ID you can use the Federal EIN. It is oin Box b in the top left corner of your W-2.
