If my son files for a tax return and all that was withheld for federal income tax was less than $10 would he get anything back.

My son started working in December 2018 and less than $400 with less than $10 withheld for federal taxes. Should he file for tax return and if so would he get anything?

No, that all he would be entitled to. Most people, unless they are entitled to a credit, just get back a portion of their withholding. With his income, even a credit wouldn't do anything beneficial. If he were a nondependent, he could get back approximately $30 as an EIC.
