If my ex husband filed first and claimed our children, which I have 100% of the time, ( not in agreement ) and I filed after- my taxes got rejected. What's the next step?

The IRS grants the dependent exemption to the custodial parent. However, since your husband has already claimed the children you will need to paper file your return. The IRS will not allow a tax return to be e-filed if claiming a dependent that was claimed on another return. Once the IRS receives your return, they will apply the tiebreaker rules which gives the dependency exemption to the custodial parent. Please view this link for more information.
