If i've received a paper saying Form 1099-INT from the IRS but that it doesn't look like a usual form, what should I do?

I received a letter from the IRS letting me know about some Interest Income for the year 2021, it does have "form 1099-INT" on it on the side, but does not look like a usual form with numbered boxes. I'm a little confused as to what I should be doing with it.

You would enter this as interest income in your return using Form 1099-INT on the letter. This does not have the usual number of boxes because it is only reporting one item, interest from the IRS.

To enter this in your return:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account and open or continue your return
  2. Select Federal from the left menu, then Wages & Income (this is called Income & Expenses in TurboTax Self-Employed)
  3. Locate the section titled Investments & Savings and select Show More, then select Start or Revisit next to Interest on 1099-INT
  4. Select Okay! on the screen Time to kick off your investments! OR Yes on the screen Did you receive any interest income? then Continue
    • If you see the screen Your investments & savings or Here's your 1099-INT info, select Add investments or Add another 1099-INT, then Continue
  5. On the next screen, select how you want to enter your Form 1099-INT:
    • If you want to import your form, search for your brokerage or financial institution. Sign in to your online account and select Get my form
    • If you want to upload a copy of your form or manually enter the info, select Enter a different way, and follow the instructions to enter your 1099-INT
  6. On the screen Do any of these uncommon situations apply? Check the boxes according to your situation and Continue

Enter interest from the IRS like a 1099Int and put the amount in box 1.  Enter it manually and just enter IRS for the payer.  Don't enter any other info like the address or a EIN.

Enter a 1099-Int  under

Federal on left

Wages & Income at top

Interest and Dividends

Interest on 1099INT - Click the Start or Revisit button

Don't enter a bank or broker name and don't try to import it.  At the bottom pick -  Change How I enter my Form

Then on the next screen pick I'll Type it in Myself
