If I've failed to file for a tax return in previous years, but have paid taxes (automatically withheld from pay) will I still be able to file? Am I in trouble?

I'm 27, low-income, and just filed taxes for the first time in my life (Thank you TurboTax). I've been working since I was 14, and was never told about tax returns.

You have three years to file returns to get a refund or it is lost forever.

So the 2015 was due 4-15-2016 and today 4-15-2019 is last day to get that refund by filing a late return.

If you owe money yet you could get in trouble primarily with interest and penalties owed.

Thank you. With this information, I was able to find out that, due to medical circumstances and other situations, my family had been filing for my tax returns on my behalf (with either my implied or [within recent years] direct consent). I'm grateful for everything, especially the ease and helpfulness of TurboTax and its community and representatives.
