If I'm the first name on our joint return, and my spouse can't remember his IP PIN, can we file without his PIN?

I was never issued an IP PIN. My spouse was issued one, but he can't find the letter for 2021. I'm doing the taxes, and I put my name first. Can I file without his PIN?

No, you will need to enter his IP PIN in the tax return. You may be able to retrieve this from the IRS website.

If you need to retrieve your IP PIN from the IRS to use on your tax return, you can check your account and retrieve the number by using the Get an IP PIN.

If you need help with this, check the IRS site for more information.
