If I’m self employed can I still file my one year old son as a dependent and get money back or help as a tax right off?

I am starting a new job as a independent contractor and  I have a one year old son. Filing him as a dependent, will I get anything back or will that help get a tax right off ? Or what’s going to happen

If you are self-employed you can claim your dependent child.  Your child-related credits will be based on the amount of income you earn.  When you report self-employment income, you also have to report the expenses you had on a schedule C.
