If I’m just waiting on one more thing to complete the income section, can I move on all the way through my fed and state return and then go back and enter the income?

No, you can skip sections and then return and enter the income.  You won't mess up anything.

To get back to the Income Section, 

1. Open TurboTax
2. Select Federal and Wages & Income
3. Scroll down to the Income you want to enter and select (It may say Edit, Revisit, or Add).

If you "go all the way through" TurboTax may mark your return as "completed".

Meanwhile you can  re-visit sections where you already entered information to make additions or corrections.
