I would like to avoid paying for it twice. I don't want to buy one version and find that it cannot generate the return for both years. Thank you!

Don’t forget your state. And you will have to print and mail your returns. So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

You will have to have both -- the 2016 version to file a 2016 return and the 2017 version of TurboTax to file a 2017 return, as the software is changed for each year to conform with the IRS form changes and tax laws related to that particular year.

There are 3 tabs. You can only buy the last 3 years. You have to buy each year separately. Click on the 2016 tab to buy 2016.
