If i download the 2024 desktop version of turbotax do I have to work online in order to figure my taxes? I do not efile and prefer to save everything on my pc.

If you download the program on your PC everything is done on your computer. You would only need the internet to update your program. 

If you have downloaded and installed the TurboTax 2024 desktop editions on a personal computer with the license code you received, you only start, complete and file the 2024 tax return using the installed software.  You never go to the TurboTax online editions.

You do not have to be online all the time while you work on your return after you download the program, if that is what you mean.  But you will need to go online a few times to check for updates---there are updates during the tax season that you will need.   And if you need a state program you have to download it.
