If I choose not to file my federal and state taxes together, will it still cost me money to file the state taxes separately?

The Online version does not charge to e-file, With the Free Edition the Federal return is free but there is a charge of 29.99 for the state whether you file it with your Federal or not.

If you don't want to pay for the state, you should check your State's webite. Most states let you file for free on their website.

Can I file my federal taxes now and skip my state for later?
