If I am on disability and make 18,000 do I have to file taxes if my husband files married but separate?

Yes, you would have to file a tax return if you are filing as Married Filing Separately.  All of your Social Security income would be taxable.  When filing as MFS you both Must take the standard deduction or you both Must take the Itemized Deductions.

Up to 85% of Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security reaches:

  • Married Filing Jointly - $32,000
  • Single or Head of Household - $25,000
  • Married Filing Separately - 0
