If filing jointly who claims the state refund in your questionnaire?

If you received a state tax refund in 2017 for your 2016 tax return and you itemized deductions last year some of the refund may be taxed.  In this scenario it can be entered under either one.

If you did not itemize deductions last year there is nothing to report so no entry is needed.
