My profile and W-2 reflect that I am Active Duty but when I got done with everything and get ready to file it gives me a total. I didn't have this problem last year and verified on the website that Deluxe was included in the promotion for free tax file for military members.
In the My Info section of the program you must indicate that you are active duty military and then you must enter a military W-2. You cannot use one of the Live online editions as those do not qualify.
See this TurboTax website for active duty military - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/military-edition.jsp
It does indicate that I am active duty. I am wondering if because I uploaded my W-2 that the system doesn't register it as a military W-2. Then again, it recognized some of the information from my military W-2 from the previous year. I didn't use any of the Live editions. I've used the basic Deluxe edition for many years. Last year it gave me no issue with the military discount but this year it doesn't register. I've even tried adjusting my profile and inputing my info again thinking that it may realize I'm active duty but that didn't work either. I hope there is a solution other than me having to re-input all of my information in manually.
@g_russell4057 Well...You can try deleting the W-2 and then re-entering manually to see if that fixes this problem.
If not then you need to talk to TurboTax support since you definitely do not have to pay any TurboTax account fees.
