I am preparing return using TTDeluxe to file for mother-in-law who died in April 2017. Federal data was transferred to NYState return but the NY software seems to be hung up on "residence changing in 2017". It did NOT change. She lived only in NY city until death in April. Could this be because the "mailing address" on the Federal was that of the executor (daughter)? That is, TT federal seems to understand properly that this is the final return for a deceased taxpayer but the NY module appears "hung up" with this issue of "mailing address outside of NY state.
NY has a form 1310 just like the federal to account for this situation. The tax form is for the deceased and his/her address The 1310 overrides the address for the person claiming any refund
Filing by paper might make process work better
I have 1310 for Fed but closest thing in NY module is "NY State Info Worksheet" which is showing "Full Year Resident" status. How to find the 1310 for NY?

You might do some additional googling
