1541 is an an internal code that the IRS uses to identify returns that have been "Delayed".

The doesn't mean there is something wrong with your return, it could simply be that the IRS has an overflow of returns at this time and is behind schedule on issue refunds. There are different reasons accounting for the 1541 reference number.

You can also contact the IRS directly mention the reference the code 1541 to them.

I am wondering the same thing. Filed 2/11, accepted 2/12. I have had the same message since 2/17 (delay, 1541). Since it says "take action", I called the IRS in an attempt to find out what I needed to do. The woman I spoke with was very rude and informed me that I don't need to be calling them until it's been 21 days. I told her I was not calling to inquire about my refund, but bc WMR directed me to take action: call. She only repeated herself again. I have already received a DDD for my state refund (SC, 3/1) which is pretty unusual as we always receive our federal first. I am in the dark about this. I know I do not owe. I have read so many different things; some say it's an audit (hope not), some say offset (not possible in my case), some say IRS backlog due to an overflow of returns. I really hope it's the latter! When did you file?
And TT posts the same answer every time, that it could be any type of delay. Not helpful! Has anyone who has received reference 1541 able to tell us more, from personal experience???
