I work at a daycare. I applied for a work incentive. I did not receive a 1099 for this income. Where do I report it?

Do I fill out a 1099 k or a 1099 misc?

If you are employed by a day care center, you would normally be issued a Form W-2 to report your earnings received and taxes withheld.

Form 1099 would be issued to an independent contractor, generally someone who has their own business.

Form 1099-K is issued to someone who received payments through payment cards, payment apps or online marketplaces. These transactions can include payments you received as a gig worker, freelancer or other independent contractor (self-employed). This may also include payments you received from selling items as a hobby.

If you applied for and qualified for a Work Incentive program for SSDI and SSI recipients, you should still receive a W-2 for your job. If you have a contact for your Work Incentive program, they may be able to help with this.

Employers and other payers are required to issue the appropriate form by January 31, 2025.
