I was wondering if you went to a school for a short amount of time. And you still have to go back and pay for the classes does that mess up your taxes?

I’m having some issues filling out my taxes right now and it’s saying that due my federal taxes $159

No, going to school and paying tuition doesn't usually increase your taxes.

The one exception is when you have been awarded grants or scholarships that are more than the tuition you paid. In that case, the excess of grants over your tuition is taxable income. Follow this link to learn more.
