I was single in 2023 and I am now married in 2024, how am I to file my taxes for 2023?

Am I supposed to file jointly even though I was not married during the year of 2023

You file as single for the 2023 tax year.

No, you cannot file a joint return for 2023.   You got married in 2024, so next year when you and your spouse prepare a 2024 tax return you can file jointly.  The tax return you are preparing now is for 2023.   Your filing status is determined on the last day of the tax year.  If you were single on December 31, 2023, then you file single for 2023.
