I was out of the country for half of the year and lived with my parents for the other half. I am filing independent, do I also file as Head of Household?

I lived for 6 months abroad at my expense, and 6 months in the USA under my parents roof, but helped with the household budget. My parents said they are not going to claim me on their return, so I should file single. Does this mean I also file as head of household?

No, you could only claim Head of Household if you paid more than half the cost of maintaining the household for the ENTIRE YEAR.
