@Chaunte1

- please review the tax return that you filed

first, only the children under the age of 17 qualify for the $500

then, ,look at where their names are listed on the return.  OVER TO THE RIGHT in column 4, there is a check mark in either the column marked "child tax credit" or "other dependent tax credit".

if the check is under "child tax credit", then it's an IRS error.

if the check is under "other dependent tax credit" and the child is under 17, then there is something you did incorrectly when answering the questions when the form was filled out.  Any way to go back and see what may have been answered incorrectly.  Suggest having someone watch over your shoulder.

Post back what you find and we can go from there.

the TT website was a simplified tax return.  It didn't print out any paper that looks like a tax form?

I receive SSD, I also used the TurboTax Stimulus Regeneration. I received the $1200 for myself but not for my children. What was the point of this tool if we are just gonna have to wait until next tax season? Do they not understand that if we are non filers we were struggling financially already and now even worse in this current crisis. I pray that this issue is resolved!

This is unfortunately very common. According to the IRS.gov FAQs here:

Payment amounts vary based on income, filing status and family size. If you filed a 2019 tax return, the IRS used information from it about you, your spouse, your income, filing status and qualifying children to calculate the amount and issue your Payment. If you haven’t filed your 2019 return or it has not been processed yet, the IRS used the information from your 2018 return to calculate the amount and issue your Payment. The IRS is not able to correct or issue additional payments at this time and will provide further details on IRS.gov on the action people may need to take in the future.

If you did not receive the full amount to which you believe you are entitled, you will be able to claim the additional amount when you file your 2020 tax return.  This is particularly important for individuals who may be entitled to the additional $500 per qualifying child payments. We encourage everyone to review our “How do I calculate my EIP Payment” question and answer.

Keep the Notice 1444, Your Economic Impact Payment, you will receive regarding your Economic Stimulus Payment with your records. This notice will be mailed to each recipient’s last known address within a few weeks after the Payment is made. When you file your 2020 tax return next year, you can refer to Notice 1444 and claim additional credits on your 2020 tax return if you are eligible for them. The IRS will provide further details on IRS.gov on the action they may need to take.

Thank you for the information.  I have talked with someone from the IRS. I was told many non-filers did not receive the $500 dependent payment because we never file. I told her how would I get it next year if I do not file? She said that i will get a payment  of the amount that was missing at the end of the year. That sucks because I'm behind on bills at least  i know that I have something coming.
