I wanted buy MAX instead of Audit Defense but TurboTax wouldn't let me

It looks like you are using our Desktop/CD version of TurboTax, which has Audit Defense as an add-on benefit, but not the MAX benefits. If you want MAX benefits, you need to file with TurboTax online.
