I want to take the tax changes that we know about for 2025 and plug them into the 2024 desktop turbotax deluxe software

I want to take the tax changes that we know about for 2025 and plug them into the 2024 desktop turbotax deluxe software, however, the first thing I tried to adjust for was the standard deduction increase.  I cannot find anywhere that I can do that.  Has anyone tried to do this and found a fix?

Are you just entering them into a tax return?  Are you using the What-If worksheet?  The What-If worksheet has been updated some of the new amounts.

On Aug 21, 2025 the What-If Worksheet was updated for new Standard Deduction amounts and the additional 6,000 for Senior Deduction. And maybe the SALT deduction increase.

For estimating……There are a few workarounds you can do. Like if you itemize deductions the SALT (State And Local Tax) max was 10,000 and now is 40,000. So you could enter the amount over 10,000 (up to 40) in another place like in Charity.

If you are 65 or older and qualify for the 6,000 senior deduction you could reduce some taxable income by 6,000 (12,000 married).

Go to Forms Mode, click Forms in the upper right or on the left for Mac. Then click Open Forms box in the top of the column on the left. Open the US listing of forms and towards the bottom find the What-if worksheet. It's right under Estimated Taxes.

Or try…Go into Forms View. Once there, at the top of the left column, click on the icon for "Open Form". A popup window will appear. In the text line, type the word "what" without quotes. You should see "what-if worksheet" appear as a selection choice. Double-click it to launch the form.

You need to click the box to use 2025 tax rates at the top of the column.

One of my issues is that there is depreciation expense this year, and there may be changes to other expenses on schedule C.  Do I just need to walk through the step by step in a copy of my 2004 tax file, enter 2025 estimated numbers, then look at the what-if sheet with use 2025 numbers checked?

the next year what-if in Turbotax for 2024 does not reflect the recent tax law changes. You are really on your own because I doubt most of them will be reflected until Turbotax 2025 is released usually in November but 2025? Tax software companies have to wait for the IRS to clarify some the rules before the new rules can be incorporated it into their apps. You could look at some of the online 2025 calculators, but their accuracy would be in question - they have the same issue as the software companies. It could be January 2026 before most of them are incorporated
