I want to pay estimated quarterly payments. Do I need the 1040ES coupons? OR can I opt to sent in my quarterly checks and write in the memo for 1040ES 2020?

If you are going to send in a check to the IRS you need to file the form 1040-ES with your payment. Form 1040-ES

Another way you can make your quarterly payments, is to make them directly through the IRS web site at IRS Direct Pay.

for accurate processing include the voucher, you can print the form and fill it out by hand or use PDF.

BUT

What you described will work as long as you write your SSN on the check. Do that in any case.
