I want to learn turbo. But do not want to file taxes with it this year. Can I continue through questions safely without filing

Yes, just do not click "Transmit my Return Now"  at the very end of the program.  You can enter everything else with no problems. Nothing is transmitted until you tell it to transmit your return.
