I want to file my state return alone. I have already received my federal. It will not separate the 2 when I go to file and declines because I have already filed federal.

How do I take the federal off my filing so it just files state.

You will not be able to remove the Federal return when you electronically file your state return because they are both transmitted together.  However, the Federal return should be recognized as a duplicate since it has already been filed.
