I want to attach Form 8833 to my tax return but TurboTax E-file doesn't support this document. I want to send a form 8833 that was not attached to my original return.

How to fill Form 8833 after I already e-file my tax return through TurboTax. I thought I need to amend my return. Any other suggestions?

As you stated, TurboTax does not support IRS Form 8833.  If you need to include this form with your tax return and the return has already been filed and accepted by the IRS then you will have to file an amended tax return, Form 1040X.  Before amending the tax return wait for the IRS to send you the tax refund or if you have taxes owed then for the IRS to process the tax payment.

Thank you! So after IRS process the tax payment from my bank account, I could prepare and amended tax return, attach Form 8833 and file it by mail. Am I right?

IS IT SUCH A "BIG DEAL" TO ADD FORM 8833, TAX ACT INCLUDES THIS FORM.

What if I already put treaty in the less income in the turbotax and E-filed it. Then I realized that I need to put the 8833 form and mail it instead of the E-file.

You can wait for the IRS to send you a request for the Form 8833.

I Efiled the 2020 tax return then realized I need to include 8833 form.

Should I wait for IRS to send my request for 8833 form then file a tax amendment?

Can I file tax amendment with Turbo tax?

If IRS didn't request for 8833 can I not file a tax amendment?

Thanks!

@pamg2

Can I file tax amendment with Turbo tax?

no, because TurboTax does not support that form.

@TANGOBABY

yes, it's such a big deal.  I think what Tax Act guarantees you is a "max refund" which isn't much of a liability to them.  TT guarantees something entirely different - accurate tax calculations.  That requires a lot more complicated software testing to be sure the many complexities of treaty-based positions are up to date, and honestly, it's not really possible to manage - every single tax treaty as its own set of rules and provisions.

The vast majority of filers trying to do their own 8833 are probably messing up their returns, anyway, and TT is right to steer clear of that enormous potential liability.

TurboTax doesn't just not support this form for e-file, they do not support it at all.

I'm interested in knowing what to do in the case where I e-file my TurboTax return, but need to include a form that TurboTax doesn't support (Form 709 - Gift) .  This isn't a question of needing to amend my return, simply how to include an unsupported TurboTax form with my return to be e-filed.  Is there a way to do that?  Does that mean I can't e-file my TurboTax return but have to mail my return to the IRS?  Can I mail the unsupported 709 form to the IRS separately, and have them attach it to my e-filed return?

I accept the fact that Intuit can't support every possible tax form, but there should at least be a process defined for including a scanned copy of an unsupported form with my tax return to be e-filed.

The Form 709 is not included with your personal tax return.  It is mailed separately to the IRS using the address as noted in the Form 709 Instructions - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i709.pdf

File Form 709 at the following address.
Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service Center
