I tried paying my taxes through the TurboTax app, which I’ve done before without a problem. This year, I’ve tried 3x. Every time it says there was a problem and it wasn’t accepted, but

You do not have to pay "through TurboTax."

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

When you owe taxes to a taxing authority, be it federal, state, or local, Turbotax does not, can not, and will not act as a middle man in that transaction. There are no exceptions and never has been.

If you did not elect to pay your taxes by credit/debit card, or allowing the IRS (or other taxing authority) to debit a bank account directly, you can pay the IRS online "RIGHT NOW" at www.irs.gov/payments. As for your state, you'll have to check your state's website to see what payment options they offer. Not all states offer online payment.

Thanks. Is there a number I can call to get my money back?

@carielchrist What money do you think you should get back?  For what?  If your payment did not not go through then you did not pay anything to get back.  Please explain.

Let me say it differently, because I believe I phrased my question before incorrectly. I have not yet paid my taxes. What I am trying to do is submit my taxes. I used TurboTax and when I paid to submit them, it didn’t do it, BUT my credit card says differently. TurboTax takes the money out and it processes through my card, but my tax info isn’t actually submitted. After it processes my card, it loads a page that says, “oops! There was a problem processing your payment.” Even though there was no problem on my credit cards end of it. I tried submitting them in April and March and it did the same.

@carielchrist

After you paid, did you go all the way through the FILE section to the big orange button that says "transmit my return now?"  You have to click that button to e-file after you pay.

Contact customer support on Monday when they open.

Hey! I believe I hooked up my bank account to turbo tax to allow the irs to take out the amount of taxes I owe. My return has been accepted. How long until they take the money out of my bank?

Although the IRS has processed and issued most refunds from e-filed returns around 21 days, due to COVID, CARES Act, stimulus, American Rescue Plan Act and a huge amount of early tax returns being filed this year, some of the returns will require more time to review.
