I thought I was ready to e- file but it says my forms are not ready for MI-1040 and then there is also schedule W. What does those 2 mean?

There are a lot of state forms that are not ready this early in the tax season so you have to wait for them.   The IRS will not be accepting federal e-files until January 24, and a state e-file cannot be accepted until the IRS accepts your federal e-file.   You have time to wait.
