I started my return, but am missing some info I need and want to file an extension. Is there really no way to use the information I've already entered to fill out the extension? Can we get that ability for next year?

You can use TurboTax Easy Extension!Log into your return

  • Click on Federal Taxes
  • Click on Other Tax Situations
  • Scroll to Other Tax Forms
  • Click on the button beside File an Extension
You may have a few screens before you get to the questions about filing with Easy Extension.

TurboTax will pull your Personal Information to fill in the form.  You just have to add the estimated amount of taxes owed and how much you have already paid.

If your calculations result in a balance owed, you can choose how to make the payment.  You can also choose to skip the payment.
You will then have the chance to review your information.  And you can edit anything that is entered.

Once you "sign" the extension, you can submit it.
