I started a return but needed an extension for the tax year 2022. I never completed it. Does turbo tax still have the information I entered back then?

Right now you can only file an extension for the year 2023.  If you filed a 2022 return, you information from 2022 should carryforward to your 2023 as long as you use the same account information you used for your 2022 return.

You can file your extension at our Easy Extension website, or select depending on the TurboTax version you are suing you can follow the steps below:

For TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax.
  2. Select File an extension in the left menu.
    • If you don't see File an extension, open a section of your return, search for extend and select Jump to extend.
    • You can also select Tax Tools then Tools from the left menu and choose File an extension.
    • You can't file an extension after April 15, 2024.
  3. Follow the instructions to e-file your extension.

ForTurboTax Desktop
