I started a new job in December but did not get paid till January. Does that need to go on my tax return? I did not receive a W-2 from the employer either.

I started the job in the later half of the month. I worked for 6 days before the year ended.

If you did not get paid until January 2017, you do not report the income on your 2016 tax return. Instead, it should go on your 2017 tax return.  You should receive a Form W-2 for the next tax year.

Per IRS, as a cash basis taxpayer, you report wages or income in the tax year when you receive.
