I sent a message yesterday concerning my FLorida State Issue ID it has my maiden name on my ID but my social security card has my married name on it I was married for 3 weeks like 8 year's ago we don't communicate at all the Social Security office will not change my last name untill I get divorced which I am working on that I don't even know what state he is in or nothing like I said it was for only 3 week's 8 year's ago when I got my State ID they asked me which last name that I wanted to go by and I chose to have my maiden name how is this going to effect my taxes please let me know what to do thanks so much someone please respond to me
Your maiden name on your ID will not cause any issues with processing your tax return as long as you used the right information from your social security card as your tax return. The IRS matches tax return information with the Social Security Administration. Your Federal return does not actually require a driver's license in order to process your return. They are asking for the license information because its an added safeguard to help fight identity theft and could help speed up processing of your return when you supply the information. But, if you are worried, then you can just skip the license entry page completely by leaving it blank and hitting continue.
