I received New Jersey Temporary Disability Leave at the end of last year after giving birth. My employer didn't apply it on my W-2, not sure what to do!

Their website states that you need to write them a written notice to see what's taxable, which I've done, but haven't heard back. Just wondering what others have done or recommend.

Unemployment compensation and temporary disability (including family leave insurance benefits) received from the State of New Jersey or as third-party sick pay are not taxable. Do not include these amounts on your New Jersey return.

See the section under Income Taxability of New Jersey taxation for this information.

I'm just wondering about Federal taxes though. Any insight?

If the income was not reported to you on your W-2, you do not need to report it.

Paid maternity leave is sometimes paid for by insurance and is not always taxable.  If it is taxable it will be reported on a W2 form and you will enter it in TurboTax in Federal, Wages, and Income. It wasn't reported on your W-2 and is not taxable income.

NJ Temporary Disability Leave is reported on Form 1099-G, which comes from the state (not your employer).

the NJ state website says Temp disability benefits Federal taxes have to be paid. we applied, not our employer. so, they didn't get any NJ State w2 or 1099-G info to enter. we had Federal taxes removed with the benefits. where do we enter this in Turbo tax? i know NJ State doesn't need it but Fed's do

If your Temporary Disability benefits are not reported on your W-2 (often listed as "third party sick pay" or "other wages"), contact your employer directly to have it corrected.

The New Jersey Department of Labor does not issue W-2s to Temporary Disability Insurance recipients. If needed, let your employer know they can download their year-end tax statement here. For additional information on incorrect W-2s, go to: Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
