I received $3,700. Dollars for workman’s compensation for the loss of a finger while in federal prison do I have to claim that

No, worker's compensation received due to an occupational injury is not taxable. You should not report this income on your tax return. Please view page 19 of IRS Publication 525 in the link below for more information.
