I paid $950 to the Treasury dept. on 7/15/20 and asked for an extension. Now that I’m filing my taxes when will they apply that $950?

Make sure when you are filing your taxes now, you list the payment you made on 07/15/20 in the tax payments made section of your return.  You will receive credit for this payment on your return when you submit it.  You enter it on the Deductions & Credits Screen under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid: Estimates. When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due.  Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return?  Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes
